Dip your toes into programming at Tech Elevator’s learn to code Meetup. Each month we’ll take a look at simple programming concepts that will be fun, informative, and give you a glimpse into the world of computer programming.

Ever wonder how digital speech recognition works? We’re going to be using JavaScript and a plain old web browser to print out what you’re saying in real time. We’ll use some basic HTML and CSS to get set up, but this whole project is JavaScript.

Be sure to bring your laptop computer and install the Chrome or Firefox Browser.

Start with the basics of HTML. Learn how web pages work and the language used to create them.

EXERCISE: create a simple web page from scratch that looks like our example web page below. We’ll spend our time at the Meetup helping you create web pages and learning how browsers use HTML to show what we’ve made.

Take a look at the following resources before the Meetup:×8555.png

Who should attend?
Anyone who is interested in learning to code or is just starting out. Bring a friend or fly solo for this casual meetup.

Do I have to RSVP?
We ask that you RSVP so we know how many to expect.

What should I bring?
Bring your laptop to work from. We have chargers, wifi, food, and soft drinks.

Should I start coding before I attend?
You can start coding on a project you’re working, or use your exercise above. Or if you want to get started with your very first line of code at the Meetup, that’s cool too.

Is there a set agenda for this monthly Meetup?
Yes! Each month our experts and alumni will present on topics that will help you deepen your knowledge and skill set. Stay tuned each month for what the topics will be!
