Ohio Community of Women in Computing

Maybe you've heard someone tell you our origin story...? About how this "Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing" started back in 2004? There were just a few of us talking about how we could get all of you together to share your experiences, so that you could see each other, find friends and mentors, to have the feeling of belonging to a community. That first discussion was just Bettina Bair, Ellen Walker, Bob Walker, Valerie Cross, and Tim Long eating burritos in my living room... but look how we've grown! That's how it goes with seeds. You plant them, care for them and they grow.

Congratulations to the three students who won the poster competition!

On Friday, February 24, 2017, there was a poster competition at OCWiC17. The Student Research Poster Competition is a forum for undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their research, exchange ideas, and improve their communication skills while competing for prizes.

Twenty-two students prepared posters, gave a brief "lightning talk", and discussed their work with several of the judges. Each poster was judged on its visual quality, as well as the student's oral presentation and discussion.

BB: First of all, who are you?

SG: I am a senior Computer Science major at Kent State University.

BB: How did you hear about OCWiC?
